I am directed to acknowledge the
receipt of your letter of the 13th Instant, relative to the financial embarrassments of St. John's Church, and calling upon this Government to pay up £1224, which
you allege to be still due to the Church Trustees, on
the ground that this Government agreed in 1844 to pay towards
the erection of a Church double the amount subscribed by the
Community, provided that the
