and & Company side from the Grenadiers, but the game on Friday was First Eleven fixture, and while the Grenadiers were without the assistance of Captain Dods the Club side did not include More and Owen Hughes.
Playing on the U.SRC. ground a fort- night ago the Grenadiers beat the Club by five goals to ore, and the Club were naturally anxious to avenge the defeat, not the less so because a victory on Friday would have to be obtained on the Marina ground, the surface of which admittedly gives full scope to the extremely fast, play of the Grenadiers. There is a return match with these opponents on the U.S.R.C. ground next Friday, after which the Grenadiers do not meet the Club, in First Eleven games until the last Wednes day in December. With Captains Hayes Newington and Dods playing, the side are particularly hard to beat, and it is only to be expected that the game next week will be hard, fought from start to finish, with the Grenadiers, whatever the posi- tion of the score, making the last ten minutes of the game hotter than ever lor the Club defence.

WORLD THEATRE.
Behind the Curtain is the Universal attraction at the World Theatre. It is a mystery story of unusual conception and unusual solution, and the manner in which it is presented gives great satisfaction to the audicace.
QUEEN'S THEATRE. "The new Paramount picturo" The Passionate Pilgrim," said to be one of the best Cosmopolitan productions to date, will be shown at the Queen's Theatre to-day. The picture is dramatic and thrilling. The heart interest never lags while the narrative is tensely sym- pathetic. It was directed by Robert G. Vignola, and Alfred Liquori did the photo-
In the game on Friday Mills was re- quired to save during the first few minutes, but very soon afterwards Armgraphy. The photoplay is interpreted by an extremely well selected cast, includ strong opened the scoring with a nicelying: Matt Moore, Rubye de Remer, Claire judged goal. The run of the game was vory even for some time, forwards on both aides pressing hard, until "Woodward scored the Club's second goal just before half time.
In the second half the Grenadiers were the first to score, bat Price followed with a third goal for the Club shortly after- wards. The Grenadiers looked like scor ing from several corners which resulted from the pressure their forwards were exerting on the Club defence, who man aged, with very useful assistance from further up the field, to keep the more dangerous of the opposing forwards under control. The second goal against tho Club resulted, however, from a shot by the Grenadiers centre forward, and though the victory seemed likely to be converted into a draw at any moment the final score left the Club with a margin which just represented the run of the game is a whole.
The Grenadiers goalkeeper withstood considerable bombardmcat from both wings and saved well throughout Arm- strong and Macmaster, for the Club, "were good on the right wing. The latter ap pears to have overcome a tendency to raise his stick above the shoulder in cen treing and his speed in dribbling is a useful asset. Martin, Mitchell and Lock kept their forwards well supplied and put in a great deal of sound defence work as well. Plercy and Hughes were hard work ed for a large part of the game and tackled and cleared well. Mills seemed likely to be called upon more often than bo actually was, having a few momenta which must have been quite exciting, and entertaining the onlookers on one occa sion with a half-valley clearance kick somewhat reminiscent of golf.

CORONET THEATRE.
"The Face in the Fog" which, suggests excitement and mystery, has not belied its title, and the story of a crook who changed into a peaceful citizen, and back. again to his former life when the circum- stances demanded it, has appealed to the crowds who make, the Coronet their favourite week-end engagement." Lionel Barrymore, who plays such an important part in The Enemies of Women," is here the crook, a part which gives him an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities, which he accepts to the full Certain of our Cinemu stars have reached fame to the extent that their name is sufficient to fill a theatre. When the story allied to their name is good, then the urge to see that seats. are secured is. all the greater. This is likely to happens this week when Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Coogan in "The Kid " are to appear on Wednesday. Chaplin is not only likely to go down to fame as pro- bably the greatest laughter-maker on the screes, but also as tho discoverer of. Jackie Coogan, who now enjoys an inter- national reputation, and whose recent visit. to England brought overwhelming crowds who wished to sea The Kid, in the flesh, and probably to savy the young boy's earning expacity. In this particular picture Chaplin excels in a rib-splitting comedy that has a human as
well ta n risibic appeal.
