Sir John Davis in Despatch No. 195 of 18th August, alludes to his despatch of 7th June (No.13) and states that a letter has been written to the Church Committee intimating that Government will contribute £6000 and $4000 toward the erection of the Church.

In this Despatch No.73 of 7th January 1845, Lord Stanley appears to sanction the outlay; but requires Plans and Estimates be sent home.

Sir John Davis in Despatch No. 193 of 16th March, acknowledges receipt of Lord Stanley's despatch No. 37 of 14th September 1844, and states that the Building of the Church has not been commenced, and that he has announced that Government will give no aid towards its erection unless with the previous sanction of Plans and Estimates.

Lord Stanley in despatch No. 183 of 20th August, alludes to Plans left by Mr. Gordon at Hongkong, and desires their transmission to England.

Sir John Davis in despatch No.116 of 25th August alludes to Mr. Hardwick's Plan, estimated to cost in England £4000. It will probably cost less at Hongkong.

Lord Stanley acknowledges receipt of the above despatch on 2nd December 1845 (No.171), but not with regard to the church - Speaks only of the Government-House and Court Offices.

Sir John Davis in Despatch No. 14 of 27th October reports that Mr. Gordon, previous to his departure for England, sent in a Plan and Elevation for a Church, and stated that the Expense would be about £11,000.
