Defendant said that he had a close friend called Lan Shing, whom he saw for the last time about, three weeks ago, Just before that ocension Lan Shing had given the witness a piece of paper to keep for him. On the evening of Sept. 7th, witness went to call on Lau Shing at his house, but Laa Shing was not at buc. While witness was in the house enquiring for his friend, the police came and arrested the people, of the house, and the witness along with them.
The second defendant, put into the witness-box by Mr. Prior, said that he
