What everyone wants to know is the question that will be asked in Parlia ment till a satisfactory reply is forth. coming-namely, what happened in the few hours that clapsed between the break- ing off of negotiations one day; and the completest agreement the next. 14 is common talk that there was pressure of a peculiar kind brought to bear on Minis- ters and that they were unable to help themselves. It is even said that the Soviet delegates threatened to make inwkward revelations about the dealings of Labour here with Moscow. But what- ever the reason may be it is certain that this mystery will have to be cleared up in Parliament Any 'attempt to fob off questioners will only strengthen opposi- tion to the Treaty.

-The English Electric Company Limited have secured from the Postmaster-Lien- eral the contract for the rolling stock and complete electrification of the Post Office Tube Railway. It will be recalled that the purpose of this tube railway is to facilitate the rapid handling of parcels and mails in the London area by provid ing direct underground communications between some of the chief railway termini and the principal postal distributing centres. The scheme of operation is unique. The trains are maniesa, carrying neither driver nor conductor, and yet the system of control is such they will pro- ceed between pre-arranged points just as though they were being directed from the train itself.
