Geddes having suddenly discovered that happi- ness had cost such large sums and that he was not able to discharge his debts took the matter to heart. And not being men- tally perfect, or strong and healthy owing to illness contracted in service, his brain seemed to have yielded to a sudden impulse to end his troubles by taking his life.

INCITING TO MUTINY. CASE AGAINST LONDON EDITOR DISMISSED.

......

Mr. J. R. Campbell, editor of the Workers' Weekly who was remanded on -bail at Bow Street Police Court on August 6th, for inciting to mutiny in the Army and Navy, was discharged on August 13th.

Mr. Travers Humphrey, on behalf of the Public Prosecutor, decided--not to offer evidence and declared that, since process was issued, it had been represent ed that the article was not intended to induce soldiers to disobey lawful orders. but was a comment on the suppresion of industrial disputes with armed forces. The Public Prosecutor had the more easily accepted this alleged intention of the article on account of the defendant's ex- cellent character and ́admirable military record

An earlier message stated- John, Ross Campbell, editor of the Workers Weekly, was remanded on bail at Bow Street on a charge of inciting to mutiny in the Army and Navy in the course of an article in his paper.

The matter was naised in the House of Commons, when the Attorney-General replying to Mr. Searr, aid that the editor was arrested in polico raid- on the offices on a warrant granted by a inagistrate.
