Since our last report of the 8th inal.. business has continued on a generous. scale and prices show some notable im provements particularly in Investiment shares while in the speculative section the outstanding feature is the strong demand for China" Sugars resulting in a phenomenal rise.
Banks. Hongkong & Shanghai Banky. have quickly recovered the Interimi dividend of Ca at exchange 23/8 ($3.13) paid on the tith inst and have ebanged hands at $1,103. The London price is £130 ex dividenti (middle).
Marine and Fire Insurances-Cantous are in demand at $700 and possibly a higher rate would be paid. Hongkong. Fires have armed up to $380 and China Fires at 3163. Unions are also higher China and could be placed at 8928. Underwriters have been sold at $1.75 Shipping Douglas Steamships have been in good demand and the price has advanced to 2334.
