The look-out man, Woug Ku Ku. said that as soon as he sighted land he rung the hell three times, which gave the alarm that land was sighted just in front of the heat. When the ship struck a heavy shower of rain was falling. There was a strong wind and the weather was foggy.

Captain Thomas, re-called, said the officers and crew behaved in a highly ereditable manner and did all they could towards making the ship, safe.

Mr. Brutton dispensed with the usual opening statement and called Captain Thomas as a witness, who deposed that he had heen in command se the s.s. Seisten for nearly three years. He left Hoihow on June 19th for Hongkong and at 7.30 p.m. that day, after covering miles the log. he altered emuurse to N. Go E.
