its weakness.
The ink

runs on

when written upon, and we
consider it entirely useless for the purposes for which it was originally intended, namely for Despatches to the Secretary of State, and Accounts.

We
beg to remark that
in
consequence of the dampness prevailing
in
this climate, it is desirable that the very
paper sent out to this Colony should
always be strong, durable, and
recent manufactured.
We perfectly agree
with the
Suggestions of the Auditor General as to the advisability of recovering, through the Colonial Agent in England, the difference in the price charged for the weight of the foolscap in question, carrying
to the credit
the amount
of the Hongkong Government.
And we further
concur in the recommendation
that the empty boxes alluded to in the same Memorandum be sold by Public Auction, and the proceeds paid into the Treasury.
We
beg
to add that we also
weighed 3 of the 50 Reams sent out stated
to weigh lbs. 16 each, and ascertained their
gross weights to be the 144. lbs. 14.9oz., respectively, lbs. 14.9oz.
each ream.
