It was probably the most spectacular match seen on the stand court this sea- 01. There was hardly a dull moment throughout. Both players went in for hard driving, especially Bumjahn who used a very strong forehand drive across Cours and into the corner of the Court, thus securing many points. He also, in the first and third seis kept Honda con. tinually on the run along the base line, very rarely allowing him to creep up to the net as he usually does to finesse. Rumjahn also got in a hot service at times and altogether played a good all- round game.

Thus Rumjahn enters the semi-nal of the Open Singles where he has to meet: R. E. Worthington. This match is to be played on the stand court on Monday. sext. S. 4. Rumjahn is probably the best of the Rumjahs who play tourna ment tennis, but he is hardly good enough for Worthington, who is likely to go into the final where he will have to meet Hobda.
