commercially unfeasible from the coal sales policy. Taking the 7.500,000 ton plan to be the limit, the Fushun Collieries may be counted upon at least for 190 or 130 years longer.

KOBE AS A SILK PORT. RETURN OF SHK MERCHANTS FROM YOKOHAMA.
The leading ilk merchants who went back to Yokohama last October will returs to Kobe in a body, according to the Kobe Shimban. "They include the Mitsui Bussan Nihon leakwa, Gosho, Yokohama Kilo and other large Japanese concerns, and Messrs. Sulzer, Rudolph & Co., Siber, Heguer & Co, Pila & Co., Strähler & Co. and other leading foreign merchants. According to the paper, these concerns did not attach much importance to the: decision of the Kwansei manufacturers in favour of Kobe as a silk port, and expect ed that they would ship their consign- ments to Yokohama if the companies went was 1000 back to the port.
