I observe that Gutzlaff has forwarded a copy of his letter to me
of the 4th January 1847,
but not of my reply thereto which I have
the honour to annex as
information on the
22 Gutzlaff's
comprising all the required subject, and showing that
his case did not meet with the neglect,
either from my predecessor, or myself, which the tone of his communication to Sir Charles Trevelyan,
would seem
6 - to imply.
I would further beg to observe that
full explanations as to Dr Gutzlaff's account
were
rendered in the replies to a paper of Queries from the Audit Board, dated 11th March 1846, and consequently there
