MR. BEN JAMES SPITTLES.
We regret to record the death of Me. Ben Janies Spittles who died yesterday morning at his residence at No. 36, Nathan Road, Kowloan.. The late Mr. Spittles had been in indifferent health for the last two or three years. About diwn in health and had been confined to nine weeks ago he had a general break-
his bed over since. He gradually sank and passed away at 6.30 am. yesterday at the age of 49 years.
The deceased was a native of Stain- ford, Lincolnshire. He came to the Colony just over 26 years ago to join the firm of Messrs. A. S. Watson and Co., and for the past 20 years he has been anger of the firm's wine and spirit brought into contact with practically alt department. In this capacity he was the shipping firms of the Colony and was therefore widely known in Hongkong, Spittles was due to leave for Aus- fralia about a month ago on retirement, but his final illness prevented him jul- fitting his intentions.
