My Lord,
I have the honor to report that on the 24th inst. I granted leave in Council to the Honorable Mr. Mercer, the Colonial Treasurer, for 18 months on sick certificate, for the purpose of proceeding to England. This leave of absence will commence from the 24th proxime. Mr. Mercer has been in the Colony

since 1844, and his health, I am sorry to say, has suffered very materially, as will fully appear from the Certificate of his medical attendant, which clearly shows the absolute necessity of his forthwith repairing to a more congenial climate, for
