Messrs. Linstead and Davies were elected auditors (vice Mr. C. Bernard Brown) for the ensuing year, at a re muneration of $1,000, on the proposal of Mr. T. E. PRARCE, seconded by Mt. F. M. ELLIS

To closing the meeting the CHAIRMAN announced that Dividend Warrants would be ready today (Tuesday).

CLOSING QUOTATIONS

The thirty-fifth ordinary yearly meet- ing of the shareholders was held at the Company's offices, St. George's Building, yesterday morning. The Hon. Mr. A. O.. Lang (Chairman of directors) presided, HONGKONG SHARE MARKET and was supported by Mr. D. G. M. Bernard, Hon. Sir G. P. Chater, C.M.G. and Mr. J. P., Warren (directors), and Share- Mr. F. R. Marsh (manager). holders were represented by Messrs. W G. Joseph, Chau Tsua Ni, L. J. Davies, L. E. Ozorio, F. MI. Ellis, T. E. Pearce, "J. T. Bagram. A. A. Alves, Leung Fattin, A. H. N. Da Silva, and Li Tse Fong.

The CHAIRMAN, in proposing the adop tion of the report and statement of ac- counts for the tee months ended Decem-] ber 31st, 1925, said :---

In accordance with the arrangements approved at the last general meeting we have altered the date of closing our Gnancial year to December 31st, and the Report and Accounts now submitted deali only with the last ten months of 1527.

of

The sett profit for the ten months after making due allowance for depreciation is

・the srith 8743,181.33. and $130.179.51 brought forward from last account, we have $973,361.14 for appro priation. With this we propose :-

To pay a dividend of $1.23

To carry forward to next

sccount

.8374,603.75

330.000.00

348,737.39

The dividend is at the rate of 13 per cont. per sanam, similar to that for last year.

The amounts set naide for Reserve and earried forward to the next account are greater than usual. but. in view of our heavy capital expenditure in the past, and contemplated expenditure on Der works in the rear future," we consider. this prudent, and I trust this proposed allotment of the profts meets with your approved. Our business continues to ex- pand at a satisfactory rate. During the tea months 1,500 new consumers were con nected to our supply, and the sales of current umounted to sixteen million units, equal to the output for the pre- vious twelve months. The greatest in- crease in demand has taken place in the West Point area, and in this district we have purchased a site for the purpose) of erecting a sub-station during the pre- sent year.

Good progress has been made with the change of voltage on which we have ex- peaded $173.253.33 during the ten months

The demand for electricity still shows signs of growing at a steady rate. Our generating plant at North Point has now a total capacity of 15,000 kilowatts, and to provide for future requirements we consider it will be necessary to install further generating plant in 1976. or per baps earlier. All the available space in. the buildings at North Point is taken up by the existing machinery and further extensions will necessitate a new build- ing: We are at the present moment pre- paring plans for this extension of our plant up to 28,000 kilowatts and hope to start work on a new building in the early, part of next year. Fresh capital will be required to finance these extensions and we prepose to obtain powers during the next twelve months to increase our capital to ten million dollars, a portion of which will be issued in the early part of 1925.

There were no questions.

Mr. W. E. JOSEPH, in seconding the proposal, said:-

I should like to congratulate the Directors on the very satisfactiry figures presented, especially in view of the fact that the period under review is shorter, by two monthy than that of last year. The appropriation of 3 lacs to Reserva Account, I Feel sure, will be considered a wise continuation of a policy which the Company has followed in the past and which makes for soundness and stability. It is particularly pleasing to see the increased number of consumers and there is every reason to believe that this increase is likely to continue in the future, especially, since the Colony is so rapidly. I trust that the

of a suitable site for European quarters will come to a successful issue, as there is no doubt that the provision of such quarters will be most beneficial to all concerned. The continued increase in the demand for current would appear to justify the proposed extension of the plant up to 28,000 kilowatts. In odia- sion. I think I speak for all the share- holders when I say that the excellent. figures placed before us are in no small messure due to the untiring efforts of the Directors, the Manager, the Staff and the Company's Agents.

On the, proposal of CHAU TSUx" Ni, seconded by Mr. G. MURRAY, the ap- pointment of Mr. J. P. Warren, to the seat on the Board vacated by Mr. T. G. Weall on leaving the Colony was con- firmed.

The Hon. Sir C. P. Chator and Sir Robert Ho Tung (retiring directors) were re-elected to the Board on the proposal of Mr. LEUNG TAX Po, seconded by Mr. [L. J. Davies.
