KCC. 2ND XL v. C.R.C. 2nd XI. Thanks to the contribution of 7 runs to their innings by J: M. Shi, the Chinese Recreation Club were able to make a draw of their league match with the Club second string on the Club ground on Saturday. The home side had first knock and scored 171 for nine wickets when they declared. Most of the bätsmen got into double figures, the top scorer being W. Galloway with 171, for nine. The Chinese opening partnership was dismissed cheaply. The four wickets following the first two pro- duced pleaty of runs to which, as stated, J. M. Shi was the principal coștributor.

This first league match was played at Sookunpoo Valley and resulted in a win for the Indians by 82 runs." Craigengower had first knock, four of the batsmen doing" most of the scoring. Bradbury was again in fine form and was undefeated at the completion of the innings with 41. Law rence, one of their most reliable batsmen, failed being bowled after scoring six. The Indians replied with 203 for nine, the first Bix wickets being productive of plenty of runs. Curreem was undefeated with 91 to his credit. "

· TOURISTS ARRIVE. MAGNIFICENCE OF THE NEW CUNARDER.
We have grown accustomed to visits to the port by magnificent liners char- tered for round the world craises, The giant Cunarder. Franconia, arrived oa Saturday morning and berthed alongside one of the piers of the Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Co. She is indeed a ginut, with a tonnage of 20,167, and perhaps the most appropriate idea of her grandeur may be conveyed by remarking that the big P. & O. Vorea, which was berthed alongside, looked, în comparison, quite a moderately sized and appointed ship.
The Franconid, as is well known, is
making a world tourist trip under the agcacy of the American Expreis Co. She left New York on November 15th last with 319 passengers. After stopping at Havana, she went through the Panama Canal and up to San Francisco. Then came Hilo (Hawaii), and Honolulu, both delightful spots. In striking contrast,,the devastated port of Yokohama came next under the observation of the party, and whilst the vessel was in Yokohama three distinct earthquake zhocks were, as it were, released for the trippers' edifica- tion.
