CONSHINMENTS OF SPINSTRES.
We are indebted for some interesting facts concerning these consignments of spinsters to a letter addressed by one of them to her cousin, and which is quoted in Macintosh's Travels." The letter in dated 1779 and is in reply to a request. that the writes should give advies as to whether it would be wise to try the same experiment. She first states that the project is one of the greatest delicacy,

The writer says that there were thirty females on board the vessel, of alkages, complexion, and sizes, with nothing in cummon, except that they wished-ta.get married.
