THE HARBOUR RACES. CONCERNING TIDES AND PRIZES.
The Harbour races will commence on Tuesday next. Mrs. Beckwith, wife of the Harbour Master, has kindly cons sented to present the cups to the winners at the conclusion of the events on Thurs day. The prize-giving will take place outsitie the entrance of the Victoria Recreation Club, and the cups,-the Mok Challenge Cup for the Chinese event, presented by Mok Ken San, the McKinnon Challenge Cup for the ladies' event, and the Evans Challenge Cup for the open event, together with the minor awards, will be on view outside the Club during the three days on which the events are held.
The course will be the usual one, starting from the line between the Star Ferry Pier and the Railway wharf at Kowloon, and finishing at the Craya between the Victoria Recreation Club and Murray Pier. The difference in the rise and fall of tide will be small-on the fint day six inches, on the second inches,so the competitors should be able day two inches, and on the third four to swin a comparatively straight course. Last year the tides were deceptive. but this year it is hoped there will be o tide trouble. Raers will commence at 5.30 each evening.
