its north-eastern angle,
as stated in the
report of the Surveyor General,
and as
doubtless apparent to His Excellency
on
the
occasion
of his visit, 2 or 3 days
Subsequent to the disaster.
The Building, being Government
property,
and as
I conceive that I
performed my duty by calling
the attention
of the proper officer to the defects, as they
presented themselves from time to time,
I respectfully submit that the
case
cannot
be denominated
an
ordinary
one
between
landlord and tenant, and
on those grounds, according to my judgement,
and in
all humility,
I can most conscientiously entreat appeal to His Excellency
for remuneration for the loss
sustained
on
the occasion in
question.

add that the Honble. the Attorney General
having been present at my
interview
with His Excellency the Governor
on
the 11th. Instant, I deemed it the proper
course to apply to him for his opinion
on the subject,
at the same time calling
his attention to a copy of a report of
Survey
drawn
up
the
day after
the
accident happened. I beg to submit a
copy of the Attorney General's
answer,
(received since the above statement was written), together with a copy of the report of Survey referred to, for the information of His Excellency.
