The latest City sensation is the convoca- tion of a meeting of shareholders in the Commercial Corporation of London, with an issue capital of two and a quarter millions, to consider voluntary-liquidation owing to the fact that one shareholder is petitioning for the compulsory winding up. The assets consist principally of holdings in industrial companies serioidy affected by the trade slump, and their depreciation in value is reflected in the fact that the Cor poration's one pad shares are quoted at only a few peace, though the directors con- sider if the assets be nursed by forming holding company they will eventually appreciate.
