Acting upon the receipt of your communication dated the 7th August last, I beg to state that with the additional understanding that the Government grant me the lease of another piece of Land, I accept the offer therein contained, although I am a loser by so doing. I hereby agree that the Government pay me the sum of Eight Thousand Dollars, allow me to remove the Material of my Buildings and grant me a remission of all Rent for the same.
