I am directed by the Maj-General Commanding,
with reference to your letter of the 9th instant, to inform you
as was stated in my letter of the 25th February last on the subject of repairs at Stanley, that the sum of £1,611.15.11 to be expended, in the current year ending the 31st of this month was only authorised by the Ordnance Department in England, and that the further sum of £2071.17 estimated for putting the Field Officer's and Officers' quarters in a proper state of repair to receive one hundred and a due proportion of Officers is proposed to be expended during the year 1850 and 1851.
