Woolen gloves for Sepoys, and Woollen generally, and indeed all articles of a perishable nature, will suffer considerable deterioration, if not be entirely destroyed, by the dampness of this climate...

In conclusion, I would respectfully call Your Lordship's attention to Despatch Nr. 53, Financial, of 23rd May last. In that Despatch I stated that I conceived 1200 men of all branches of the service to be fully adequate to the duties of the Colony, and I have only to again repeat that I think a two years' supply of stores for this force would be ample. Of the nature and quantity of these stores, the Respective Officers must of necessity be much better judges than I can possibly be.
I have the honor to be,
With the highest respect,
Your Lordship's
Most Obedient
Humble Servant
