In the Month of Summary 194h Her Majesty's Sir John Davis The Governor of Hong Kong granted; a Lease to Mr. G. J. Braine: of some Land, which has been some time before put up for sale by order of Sir Harry Pottinger, and was purchased by Mr. Braine at Auction and is registered in his name in the Land Office as Inland Lot No 16 and Contains ... Square feet.
This Land was sold and assigned by Mr Braine to the Trustees of The Hong Kong Club who erected thereon; Horse and they have since regularly paid the Rent and Taxes to Government for the premises.
A claim to this Land has been lately opened by the Representatives of a Mr Edwards deceased who alleges that Captain Burd purchased the Land, whilst The Naval Officers and Captain's Ettels were at the head of affairs within ... that Mr Edwards purchased it of Captain Beard.
It is represented and believed by the Trustees ...
