Mr. Albert Thomas, a Director of the International Labour Office, recently interviewed the Minister of Labour and expressed gratification that Italy was leading in this matter, compared with all other nations.
An exception was made in the case of the merchant marine, in which an eight- hour day would prejudice Italian interests when competing with nations which have not adopted the convention.
