I have written to the 55th Regt.
requesting any information that may be obtainable on the subject, and I shall further write to a friend of mine in China to cause search to be made in the books of the Parsee Merchants.
The correspondence you have done me the honor to forward I shall, to the best of my recollection, the 18th instant, tendered to the Registrar of the Supreme Court, and further awakens an impression, that regarding Mr. Cay's reply, I spoke to the Attorney General on the subject.
I am nevertheless still strongly impressed with a belief that I ultimately handed over the money to the Major's order and small balance of cash... & the Major's name, and can only attribute the non-appearance of the items in the Books of the Magistrate's office to that state of Confusion alluded to in the Major's statement, as arising from the changes in Kessing and the reforming of the Departments.
Have the honor to be,
Your most obedient
Humble Servant,
Bull Captain,
18th Royal Regiment.
