we shall state them very briefly before giving our opinions as to the justice of his Webster's claim.

In June 1842 (the day is apparently not known) a Lot of Land was granted to Captain Meik, on condition of his erecting on it a Bazaar for the Troops, within six months.

He was immediately commenced levelling the ground and creating the Buildings, but falling ill obliged to leave the land. In the end of September the Land was sold by Captain Meik's Agent, for 960 Dollars, to Mr Webster, and the transfer was duly registered and allowed by the acting governor, Mr Arch. Johnstone. Mr Webster forthwith proceeded to carry on the works begun by Captain Meik, but on the 26th November was required by the Government to remove a portion of his Buildings and to take away some rubbish, in the space left for consequence of the Road having been narrowed by the erection opposite to Mr. Webster's lot of Police Station, which is alleged to have been Commenced after his Buildings were in progress.
