An arrangement has been made between the shipbuilding trust and the Govern ment by which the German shipping industry is to receive the sum of eighteen thousand million marks in further com- pensation for its abips seized or surreE- dered in the war.
This is additional to the eleven thou- sand million marks at Srst agreed upon, and is said to have been granted on account of the depreciation of the mark. It appears, however, to be a purely volun. tary gift on the part of the Government to the shipping industry, as the sum of eleven thousand million marks was sup-
