11 * MOUNT OFBEL'S SECRETS.
A great international project, which I am able to announce for the first time, is. about. to be undertaken. This is nothing less than the complets excavation of the ancient City of David on Mount Opbal, which lies to the immediate south of the existing walls of Jerusalem. The proposal emanates from the Palestine Administra tion, which has issued invitations to all the countries and communities represented in Palestine, through the consuls and archeo- logical representatives, to participate in the work. As the invitation states, "it is considered that a work of such importadee, on a site whose memories are sacred to many nationa,-should-not-be entrusted to the resources, however ample, or to the labours, however devoted, of a single scientific institution or nation. It is a work in which all should share, and we are already aware that many are anxious to take their part.
