The dressing at Dinard is never a nagnificent or senaational as it is at Deauville, but, as a whole, it is perhaps more elegant and in better taste. During my visit to Dinard this year I did not see one chinchilla coat, but neither did I see an xample of vulgarity and bad taste such as I saw frequently mingling with the throng. a: Deauville.

For wear in the day-time, especially the morning, there is nothing so popular at Disard as the creat pleated skirt. This is made up in garbadine or a very light sorge, and the most effective type of pleats is the tin' Lox-pleat about an luch wide. Ac cordeon and knife pleats are also worn, but the box-pleat is by far the most effective, and, therefore, the most popular. With this is worn a white or a coloured silk sweater (at Deauville there was hardly one to be seen!). As elsewhere, there is a per- sistent vogue for white at Dinard this year, therefore, white, ivory and cream silk Sweaters are far more worn than they were fart season. Also, there are infinitely more
hand knitted sweaters to be seen than ever before. Up till now, Frenchwomen have not taken kindly to the hand-koitted swea ter which has raged so persistently in Eng land for the last few years, but now it would see that France, too, is to have its devotees of the hand-knitted garment in preference
to the machine-made one.
