Your Letter of the 11th Instant, I have it in command to state to you, for the information of Earl Grey, that the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have not dissented from his Lordship's Proposal that Application should be made to Parliament in the present Year for a Vote of £25,000 - for the Service of Hong Kong instead of £20,000 as previously intended, and I am to observe that with the Aid of this additional Sum of £5,000 - the Governor will apparently be enabled to discharge all Liabilities to the 31st Ultimo, on Account of the Works to which he has referred in his Despatch of the 16th December last; leaving the further Provision for the Service of the Year 1849/50, as contemplated by the Communication made to his Lordship from this Department on the 6th February last.
