With reference to your Letter dated the 30th December last. I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint You, for the information of Earl Grey, that John Hare appeared at this Office yesterday and passed examination in Arithmetic and English Composition which shewed that he possessed the requisite Attainments for conducting the Duties of the Office of a Clerk in the Treasury at Hong Kong, to which he has been nominated by Lord Grey.
