PRINCESS MARY'S BALL.
BRILLIANT PAGEANT.
CENTURY-OLD SCENE. Graced by the presence of the Queen, the Prince of Wales, and many other members of the Royal family, the ball on June 8th at the Royal Albert Hall, in aid of the Combined. Hospitals "Appeal, was a bril- liant success, and will take its place among the most famous events of the kind. Toj the general disappointment Princess Mary! (Viscountess Tascelles), who, as president of the ball committee, had worked hard to achieve the splendid result, was herself unable to be present, as sho was in the country. Princess Alice, who had filled the chair of the committee with enthusiastic goodwill, must indeed have been woll pleased to see the boxes all filled, many of them having been purchased at very high prices, while the single tickets had been sold out.
