SHIPPING NOTE.

A French paper says that the Americans. bare inherited the taste of Germany in the construction of giant mail boats. They have just laid down on the stook two steamers which will have a length of 205 metres, or "ovor 1,000, feet. Their imachines will have a force of 110,000 horse power with a speed of 30 knots, and they will be fitted for the transport of 3,000 passengers. The Eaterland, of which the Germans wore proud, was only 274 metres Tong, the British "Imestonio, 23 metres, and the Prance the largest Erench mail stenmez, did not exceed 920 metres.
