600 UNPUBLISHED DICKENS
LETTERS.
A recent London letter to su Indian paper contained, the following:-Dickens Lovers everywhere are excited at the prospect of the sale at Sotheby's on May 15th of 600 unpublished' letters of the master. They were all written to the Baroness. Burdett Coutts, and form part of the library from Strustotz House now to be sold. For over twenty years, from 1841, Dickens kept up a constant, correspondence with the great lady. Curiously enough, none of the letters was available for the collection of his correspondence published by his sister-in- law and eldest daughter in 1890...

DIVER AND DEVIL FISE.
DEATH STRUGGER.
Advices from Tacoma (Washington State) describe an encounter between Mr. Walter McCray, a diver well known from Alaska. to California, and a giant devil fish in Puget Somed. From this account, it would appear that while the diver was under' water he was attacked by the monster, which wound its tentacles round him. S tightly that he was unable to reach is knife, while one of the tentacles threatengl to cut off the air supply. Mr. McCray, through the submarine "telephone, called for a short steel bar, with, which he finally managed to pierce the monster's body. The men above ultimately drew both diver and devil fish up to the surface, still locked in the death" struggle. Their bodies were so intertwined that the rescuers were unable to use their pistols. However, they attacked the monster with other weapons with so much effect that it finally released its grip and slid back into the waters beneath.-Renter.

The bird struck one of the braces of the pizne with such force- as to break both the brace and the eagle's neck. It was then caught in the braces of the 'plane. The bird measured seven fest between wing tips.---Bewier.
