Ms, Wellington Koo and their family will accompany him. In Chinese circles it is not considered likely that His Excellency will return to London, and the name of Mr. Obao-bain Chu, Chargé, d'Affaires, is mentioned us his probable succor. The difficulty in introducing the method of communicating information would not arise so far as the Press is concerned. But what Lord Burnham seems to overlook is that, whereas in the United States the newspaper are regarded as the normal channel for publishing Ministerial pronouncements, and even Senators and Congressmen rely on this source for first-hand news, is England the customi always has been to impart in telligence first of all to the House of Com- mons. The House is extremely jealous of its privileges on this score, and, indeed, there is invariably'a rumpus if an item of news which seems to have come from as official source first appears in the Preas. ITS RESULTS IN ECONOMY.
Mr. Chamberlain, replying in the House of Commons to Sir H. Brittain on March 6th, said it was estimated that the cost of the British delegation at Washington would not exceed £30,000. As to the sav ing of expenditure.se a result of the Cen- feranoe, the cancelling of the construction of the four capital ships would involve an immediate saving during the current year of approximately £2,000,000, and ultimately a saving of at least £30,000,000. The total saving accruing as the result of the Conference in 1822-23 would prob- ably exceed £10,000,000.
ECONOMY IN FIJI

They are ushered into a Private Secretary's room; quite irrespective of the attitude of their paper towards the Govern- ment, and they are free to put their questions about current affairs. Whatever information is available is freely imparted, red-hot from the precincts of executive authority. It rests with the papers themselves how much or how little they print of the pews obtained in this way at first-hand. GUESSING THE CHILE.
£20,000 was sufficient for the requirements of the Colony, and this limit has now been agreed to, with the proviso that the new Government House should be so designed to make extension possible it required.
