Favourites, for the most part, came home and in most of the races the public. was right in its fancy. But it was much astray in the Foochow Cup which was well won by Mountain Bear. Aa reraarked yesterday Mountain Bear in the race for the Kalgan Stakes on the first day of the meeting saatched a fine win from Mosaic Tile in the style of a pony with plenty of strength But that was in half a mile race, and evidently the public let him run loose yesterday because his ability to stay two miles was doubted. He won in the style of a good horse, however, in the excellent time of Amins. 20 1.5seca, or just over six ecconds outside record, which marks him out as the best winner of the day,

His Excellency the Governor and Lady Stubbe arrived just before the first race and His Excellency sav 'his pony run third.
