SHIPPING NOTES. -
A San Francisco correspondent calls. altention in a Home paper to the arrival there of a shipment of 5.000 tons of Cardiff steam coal. Mr. Dowling, of Dodwell & Co, who handled the ship. meat, state this was the first cargo of Cardiff coal received in California for the last 18 years, though there had been previous shiftments from Swansea.

Samuel & Co., Ltd. She has been constructed under special British survey and the Japanese Marine Corporation to. Class B.S.* Her principal dimensions are: Length 450 ft. between perpendiculars, 56.6 ft. moulded breadth, and 35.95ft, moulded depth to unner deck, with a displacement of about 05.500 toas. There are eleven steel der ricks-ong 40-ton., one 10-ton and pine 8-100-and ten powerful steam winches. She is fitted
with single screw double reduétion geared turbines giving a speed of 14 knots on coal, or oil fuel. with a dead-weight 10,000 tons on board. Paris Mary is a sister ship to the London "Mam being "completed by Messrs. Cam- mell Laird.
