A frst League match between the IR.0. 1st XI. and the University was played at Sookunpoo, on Saturday. The game re sulted in a draw. The University opened the batting and scored 181 for 8 when they declared. A. 4. Ramjahn was in good form and scored 71,

The Indians replied with 103 for six when owing to failing light stumps were drawn. Scores:-

Following up their success of last week when they beat the R.G.A by five wickets and no runs, the Chinese Rocreation Club, in no uncertain manner defented the Hongkong Cricket Club, 1st XI. on Saturday by 76 runs. The game was played on the C.R. C. ground, the home side going in first. Ng Saa Kwong and W Lock Wai opened the batting, the.. latter was caught when 17 had been scored. The main event was fifteen-round contest for the heavyweight championship of the Colony and the Hongkong Ex- change Brokers' Association belt. Pte. Wilkins, of the R.M.L.I. This first League match played at Happy Valley, on Saturday, was won by the Artillery by 34 ruas. The Artillery batted first, taking an hour and forty minutes to score 159, all out. Captains Davies and Olliver, as usual, led off and after 15 minutes play "Omar bowled Capt. Davies, when 9 was run up. Lieut. Chester then joined Capt. Olliver and they increased the score to 63 when the laster WRA bowled; the former added 3 more and was caught by Omar. Craigongowes made: a very poor start, their first four wickets falling for seven runs in less than twenty minutes. Jex and Lammert be- came associated and the sixth wicket did not go down till 80 had been registered. Both batsmen played vigorous cricketer, Lammert being responsible for nine boun- daries and Jez eight. Bradbury who often does well with the bas was caught for &

The eighth round was characterised by a good deal of infighting: both men wern biding their time. In the next two rounds it was evident that Carer had begun to feel that he had had enough; nevertheless the ténth round was a hard one for both. Wilkins had Cover to the ropes a good deal in the eleventh round and it was then annouced that Cover retired.

The Chief Justice (Sir William Rees Davies) presented the belt to the winner. BIX-ROUND LIGHTWEJ OST CONTENT. Seamen Russell HS Thani, (113 ba.) beat A. BEardley, H.M.S. - broc. (135 lbs.) do points. Naither man. could put much force into his blows; Eardley was good at dodging. Russell's staying power proved the greater and he had the best of the last three rounds;

A. B. Chadwick, H.M.S. Murasion, " (125 lbs.) met O. S. Larter, H.M.S." Hawkins, (131 lbs.) Chadwick was evi- dently the more experienced man and clever on his fect but Larter proved a

tough opponent. The bout was a band fought one but in the last two rounda Chadwick had matters very much his own way and was declared the winner.

TEN-ROUND CATCHWEIGHT "CONTENT.

Stoker P. O. Morgen, H.M.S. How- kins, (144 lbs.) challenged A. B. Bow didge, H.M.S. Carlisle, (156 lbs.) for a stake of $350 a "side.

The bout wat fought with great fierceness but by the fifth round Bowdidge had mastered his man and beat him to his knees thres times and then knocked him out with a left hook to the jaw.
