It is sufficient for me to say that 58 Piratical Vessels, mounting about 1200 Guns, have been destroyed, and that Six Small Vessels only remain of this formidable fleet - That about 1700 of Crews have been slain by us, and about 300 only out of 3,000 escaped in the six small vessels with Shap-ng-tsai : the remainders of the crews of these Ships driven without resource into the Country perishing from want and the weapons of the Cochin Chinese, and that few Guns and prisoners brought as trophies have been over and are at your Excellency's disposal. As the notice is very short, I propose to wait on Your Excellency at 8U.M tomorrow, if Your Excellency grant me the favour of a personal interview; and should Your Excellency deign to honour me with a visit, we shall be ready to receive You at 10 A.M.
