For particulare apply to-- they have killed without mercy everyone who opposed them. They have had their way, they have made their experiment. And what is the result? The result is that the processes of production have ceased entirely in Russia. All enterprise has been frozen. The means of trade and co-operation between man and man and between town and country have been destroyed Lenin and Trotsky have simply lived on what was left over from the Tsar's regime: they have lived on the gold they seized in the Rusian Tren- sury or from the Rumanians; they have lived on the jewels they stole from women they murdered; and they have consumed the reserves of corn which the peasants had accumulated to guard themselves against just such a famine as bas now | occurred.-And-now-Lenin, who has des troyed Russia for the sake of his theories, we are teld is abandoning all these theories one after another and is reintroducng one after another the principles of that capi- talistic system which he had abolished in Russia, which he had killed so many people for defending, and which he had tried to overthrow by universal, revola- jen in every other country in the world. POLITICAL STRIKES,

The same kind of people, holding the same kind of views, have done their best during the last two years to ruin us häre in Great Britain. Luckily we always scem, to get these foreign diseases in a lesa acute form. (Laughter.) But the Socialists have done all in their power to reduce the efficiency of labour. They have done all in their power to create dismrbance. They have done all in their

power to cause strikes and disputes in

industry. We have lived for the last two Tears under a perpetual threat of the most formidable strikes ever yet seen in this or any other country. (Interruption': And you helped to make it!") Thes strikes have not been simply ordinary wages disputes, but attempts to use the strike weapon for political purposes. (Cheers.) Experienced trade union lead- ers have been brushed aside. Every trade union which had laid up funds for rainy day has seen its coffers emptied All just when they were most needed. the basic industries of the country have been cruelly injured by long stoppages and repeated threats of stoppage. Every employer has been hampered in making plans for the future or in making con tracts to sell his goods in foreign coun tries by a complete uncertainty as to whe- ther he will be able to deliver the goods when the day comes round.. In conse- quence there has been an immenso check to business enterprise, the result of which has been widespread unemployment and the very serious degres ni anffering which now prevails in various parts of the

country.
