You perceive that His Excellency is advised that it is not desirable that the case should be taken up by the Crown.
With reference to the latter part of your letter, the subject therein mentioned has long had His Excellency's attention, and has already been brought by him to the notice of the Legislative Council. He will nevertheless submit a copy of your communication to Lord Grey by an early opportunity.
