STORY OF KING EDWARD RECALLED
BY GOLDEN WEDDING.
An amusing episode in the life of the Late King Edward VII. is recalled by the golden wedding of 'Mx., and Mr. Lamb, of Millom (Westmorland).
It was the mother of Mr. Lamb who euled the ear of King Edward when he was Prince of Wales. The Prince, who was a small bay at the time, and was, spending á holiday at Grasaiere, chased some "lambs.
Their owner, Mr. Lamb, resented the proceedings She caught hold of his Royal Highness, gave him a good shak ing, accompanied by a cuff" on the ear and some sound advice as to his future conduct.

The Prince's tutor hurried up and told Mrs. Lamb that the boy was the Prince of Wales. I don't care," said "the angry lady, "ho must not chash my lamba into the lake."

Mrs. Lamb was the wife of a fârmer, and the story is still told in the. Gras mere district, where they live long and have good memories.
U.S. AIRWOMAN KILLED.
FALL FROM 1,000 FEET.
Miss Laura Bramwell, the well-known air woman, who on May 18th looped the loop in an aeroplane 190 consecutive times, was killed to-day by a fall "at'the' Mineola aviation field. Miss Bromwell a fiying at an aftitude of 1,000ft, and had just come out of a loop when the aeroplane crashed.
Experts consider that Miss Bromwell lest control of the aeroplane' when the straps, holding her in her seat became disarranged. The machine, which was a borrowed Canadian_single-seater, lurched suddenly as Miss Bromwell was coming out of a loop, side-slipped and then got into a tail spin, falling like
plummet. The girl's body was found amid the tangled debris Death had evidently been instantaeus.

Miss Bromwell, who was only 22 of age, obtained her pilot's certificate two years ago, and since then had been specializing in stunts." She had, how- over, always had a premonitiod that the would meet her death while stunting." In addition to holding the world's re cord for women for looping, she held the American women's speed record, hav ing attained a speed of 135 miles an hour.

Some twenty-five years ago the neck- lace was stolen from the Louvre, in Paria. An international search waa'started. Thė. French Chamber of Deputies offered a reward of $150,000 for its recovery. French Secret Service was sent trail.

But no truce chuld be found of the historic necklace. And as the years, wedt by its disappearance was forgotten by all but a few Secret Service detectives and some experts on antiques.
About six months age the necklaco found its way to a curic store in China- town here. So little attention was paid it that there is but alight information at hand regarding the identity of the in- dividual who, peddled it. It is believed, however, to have been brought into part by a French sailor who sold it without any realisation of its value. And so the Bonaparte beads, unrecognised by tourists and others, were placed on display in a modest show-case, with a price tag of $25 stuck behind them. In the assortment of valuable scarabs and cameos they were overlooked. Finally, & few weeks ago, a New York couple, touring in California, bought it...
