I take this opportunity of enclosing to Your Lordships, copy of an official communication from the Imperial Commissioner to address, announcing seizure and execution at, Chineze called Thin chi liang, whons ho states to be the real murderer of the Governor of Macao - He adds that the head and hand of the deceased having been discovered, had been sent to Macão, together with the head of This chi liang, to be exposed at the spot where the murder was committed.

Not being at all satisfied that the man executed was the real murderer, being beyond all doubt that the crime was perpetrated by six or seven individuals, I called Sen's attention to the fact, and urged on him not to lose time in causing those at large to be apprehended. I was principally induced to take this step, because I was desirous that the Commissioner should see that I was not satisfied that the man who was beheaded was the real murderer.

The Commissioner in his rejoinder insists upon This chi liang being the principal in the Governor's murder, and promises to adopt certain measures for the immediate pursuit and apprehension of the other Criminals.

The accompanying memorandum, drawn up by Mr Meadows, the Interpreter, will show that from the inquiries that gentleman has been able to make relative to these matters, he has arrived at the belief that the man who has been executed, was not the real murderer, but a native of the District of Heang shaw (in which Macao is situated), for whom the authorities were keeping...
