Most Illustrious and Most Excellent Sir,
The Council have to communicate to your Excellency that in consequence of the unsatisfactory nature of the answer received relative to the most atrocious outrage committed on the 22nd Instant, they resolved this day to order the occupation by Portuguese Force of the Post at the Barrier, with the intention of keeping it temporarily until this affair shall have been satisfactorily concluded.
In pursuance of this resolution, that Post was occupied this morning, by a Military Force from this Garrison, but it had no sooner arrived there, than the small force...
The Most Illustrious and Most Excellent,
Samuel George Bonham,
Governor of Hongkong,
