Honorable Sirs,

I have had the honor to receive a Letter from your Excellencies, dated the 23 inst., upon the subject of the assassination of the Governor of Macao.

The moment that I was informed of this terrible outrage, I addressed to the Imperial Commissioner, &c., a communication, of which I beg to enclose a copy.

From this, Your Excellencies will learn that, in protesting against this fearful atrocity, on behalf of the British Nation, I have associated with that of my State, the name of every Foreign Power.
