THE HONGKONG DAILY FEESS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28BD; 1981.

COLLISION ON THE RIVER” AR

SHANGHAI.

MISHAP OFF. 8. '&''. WHARY, The N... Daily News of the 18th inst reports:-

About 7.30 .. yesterday the Apcar line" str." drratoon, Apeur and the Ô.N. str. Fingehow were in collision in the river just off the Shanghai and Hongkew. Co.'s wharf. At the time the accident occurred the Arratoon had just pulled- out and was about to procced down stream en route for Japan. The King chow was inward bound, and had reached the same point in the stream as the Apear bout.

As a result of the impact between the two steamers the anchor of the Arratoon 4pear was practically cut in two, while about 20ft, of her port bow plates were crumpled up and shifted bodily aft Furthermore, when the boats had separat ed, it was seen that just below where the damage was done, the anchor of the Fingehow remained embedded it the Arratoon's hull. The damage to the Fingehow was in the vicinity of her stem, although apparently not so extensive as in the case of the other boat.

It is anticipated that some 10 plates will have to be replaced in the bow of the Arratoon Apear, and her departure for Japan will be delayed, for a week or 10 days
