SHOT BY A FRIEND. SHANGHAI PRISON WARDER'S ACCIDENTAL DEATH, t

The sad story of the death of Mr. H C. Jackson, a warder at the Shanghai Municipal Geol, was told at an inquest- beld by H. M. Consul at Nanking, the deceased was about 30 years of age, un- married and had served in the Navy prior to coming to Shanghe

-Evidence was given that the deceased was one of a party who were shooting in the neighbourhood of Nanking. William Charles Grant had loaded his gun and was just about to fire at a bird when he stumbled, the charge was exploded and the contents of the cartridge struck Tack- son. A doctor said that death was due to shock consequent on the injuries-que- teingle and a verdict was returned that death was caused by a gunshot wound #cicielenbaliyatinflicted.

The body was brought to Shanghai train for interment.
