With reference to our late inspection

of the Military Barracks at Stanley, and to the dilapidated state of the principal portions and with a view to saving of the Buildings, and with

as little unnecessary expense in this Colony, I consider it my duty to acquaint you,

that so

far as the civil Government of the Island

is concerned, it does not appear to me that under ordinary circumstances it can be requisite to maintain a

greater force than

one company at Stanley; and having recently received a communication from
