THE BITER BIT.
Twelve hands have gone to the writing. of Herbert Boerbohm Tree: Some Memories of Him and His Life, Cullected by Max. Beerbohm (Hatching and Co.) No single appreciation wall have convaged the manysidedness of a character as varied as a jewel-box.
The most interesting section of the book is that written by Lady Tree, who writes tenderly of his amusing eccentricities. "He was an inveterate jaster, who nearly always ucceded in turning the laugh against bis subject; but on one occasion, when he was stopping at Hurstmonceux, he was hoist with his own petard. The story is told in Totter written by Mr. Norman Forbes to Lady Tree:- A
